In my family, we typically give each other one or two gifts for Christmas which are opened on Christmas Eve. But then, come Christmas morning, we do STOCKINGS. Our stocking tradition has grown quite grandiose - everyone in my family can expect to get a CD (yes, we still get hard copy CDs), a DVD, an ornament, and terrible-tasting children's candy (although my mom decided to skip that part this year). We also typically get a bunch of re-gifted things or dollar store things or just things that struck my mom's fancy. It's gotten to the point that we normally have two stockings a piece at home because my mom doesn't like to just get small gifts.
Stockings were even more outrageous this year. We (my immediate family and our friends at the cabin) had a small stocking-stuffing party last night....meaning we filled and then hung all the stockings together.

I know, it's weird. The stocking situation got even more ridiculous because some of the gifts were unwrapped. But we quickly solved this problem with the blanket technique as seen below (I apologize for all the laughing). There's a transcript below if needed:
[Mom] What clearly is going on over here?
[Dad, in background] Oh wait! Here's the special stuff here.
[Tristinn] I'm helping my dad stuff the stocking in front of everyone. Instead of doing it at night in secret, we're just doing it in broad daylight...we just cover ourselves with a blanket.

One of the things I "got in my stocking" was this:
A huge, two-volume set of The Bible....in comic-lego form. It has definitely been the most entertaining gift for everyone since I opened it. We have all been particularly fascinated with the Lego version of the Christmas story as seen below (And let me tell you, the Holy Spirit coming upon Mary is much more interesting in Lego form):MORAL OF THE STORY: Today is Christmas. Just don't forget about your Lego Jesus as you celebrate it.
