X is for Xenodochial

Okay, let's be honest. X is a crummy letter. We knew whoever got "X" was going to have a rough time. When you look up X-words on the Core 3000 vocabulary words, there are ZERO words that begin with X.

I did however manage to find a word starting with X that wasn't X-ray. That word is Xenodochial. According to yourdictionary.com, xenodochial means friendly to strangers. (If you want to learn how to properly pronounce it, someone took the time to make a youtube video). This was definitely a new word for me until I saw the antonym xenophobic. Then the lights clicked on.

What a great word! And what a great word to embrace on Christmas Day. My life has been deeply enhanced on more than one occasion by a friendly stranger. Friendly strangers make the world a little brighter, a little more neighborly. So, on this most excellent of holidays, let's be a little more xenodochial and make this world a better place.
